Discipleship U provides solid, biblical teaching and training on foundational aspects of the Christlife, while forming a biblical worldview for those desiring to be disciples of Christ. It also provides family-wide spiritual growth opportunities for both adults and children in a way that does not require family members to become isolated from their families in order to grow in Christ.
The path of discipleship involves lifelong learning that takes us to new heights of understanding and new depths of integrity in our relationship with God and each other in the body of Christ. Fellowship offers Discipleship U courses to provide both form and substance for your journey with Christ. Discipleship U offers a variety of courses on Wednesday nights for two 8-week terms each year: fall and winter. The courses are taught by knowledgeable and experienced Christian’s from our Church’s leadership community.

Course offerings:
Essential Theology II
Instructor: Greg Pinkner
6:30 – 8:00pm
This is the second of a two part class. The Christian worldview is like a jigsaw puzzle. The complete picture is made up of lots of little pieces put together in just the right way. This course is designed to take those pieces out, examine them, and then rebuild the puzzle piece by piece. We want to make sure that when it comes to how we see Christ and the world that we have “taken every thought captive to obey Christ. (2 Cor 5:10).”
Mentoring Kids/Youth at Risk
Instructor: John Winters
6:30 – 8:00pm
Leaders of local kids/youth organizations, FEFC Members who are mentors, and John Winters, our Missions and Outreach Pastor, will be tackling these issues and other questions you might have about mentoring kids and youth at risk in Knoxville:
- What is mentoring? How do you “find” someone to mentor? How do you “break the ice” your first time together? What if it’s not a good fit?
- How do you build trust? Set healthy boundaries? Handle tough situations and conversations? What if I get over my head?
- How do I relate to the child’s/teen’s parent(s)? What if the child/teen is in foster care?

Solomon Says: Biblical Wisdom for the New Year
Instructor: J.C. Neely
6:30 – 8:00pm
We all played the game Simon Says as a kid and did some pretty silly things. Now as adults who are we paying attention to? Who or what is determining the choices we make? The wisest person ever, Solomon, and author of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Songs, has much to say about the choices we make. The Bible is filled with scripture on how to make choices that reflect the Christ life within us. Come explore how to make the Biblical decision in 2010.
